Statio Beneficiariorum Savariae
Beneficiarii StationPannonia Superior · Szombathely, HungaryBuilt 103 CE
About
Savaria doubled as home to Pannonia Superior's provincial archive and a beneficiarii consularis post under Trajan. A dated inscription places the station here alongside the tabularium provinciae, tying road security directly to the province's tax paperwork. Soldiers detached from the governor's staff processed records and travel documents in this Amber Road colony rather than at the legionary bases downriver. Few other Danubian stationes combined bureaucratic and security duties so visibly under one roof.
