Attalus II picked this half-moon cove beneath the cliffs because it was the only sheltered anchorage on an otherwise harborless stretch of the Pamphylian coast. Roman engineers reinforced its breakwater with massive cut-stone blocks, some still visible underwater today. Grain, timber, and Pamphylian goods moved through its roughly 100-meter basin for more than two centuries before 117 CE. The same harbor, now a yacht marina, has stayed in continuous use for over two thousand years.
