Aphrodisias Baths of Hadrian

About

A monumental marble bath complex dedicated to the emperor Hadrian, who reigned from August 117 CE. Construction began after his accession, so the block was still occupied by older shops and houses on the day Trajan died. This is a textbook post-117 dating trap: 'Hadrianic' at Aphrodisias always means built under Hadrian, not before him.
