Statio Beneficiariorum Salonae
Beneficiarii StationDalmatia · Solin, CroatiaBuilt 100 CE
About
As capital of Dalmatia, Salona hosted the province's busiest beneficiarii post, with fourteen surviving dedications naming men posted to the governor's staff here, more than any other town in the province. Detachments rotated in chiefly from Legio I Adiutrix, XIV Gemina, and XI Claudia to handle security and paperwork for the entire governorship. A soldier posted here answered to the consular governor directly, bypassing his own legion's centurions. The post anchored a network of seventeen confirmed beneficiarii stations radiating from Salona along Dalmatia's interior roads.
