In 225 CE, Petronius Felix and his sons paid for a colonnaded exercise yard wedged between the two bathhouses of Thuburbo Maius. Wrestlers, boxers, and pankration fighters trained under its Corinthian portico before crossing into the Summer Baths next door. An inscription on site still credits the Petronii family by name. In 117 CE this courtyard was more than a century away from being built.
