About
The House of the Fisherman held a compact underground suite lit by a small courtyard fountain, its plan mirroring the larger House of the Hunt next door. One small room preserves a mosaic of a fisherman working the water. Late Roman owners later swallowed up a public street to fuse this house with its neighboring insula. None of this existed yet on the day Trajan died in August 117 CE.
