About
A beneficiarius post at Ampelum, administrative seat of Rome's newly opened gold district, tracked wagons and workers through the Apuseni mountains after Trajan's conquest of Dacia in 106 CE. At least three beneficiarii of Legio XIII Gemina are attested serving the mining community at nearby Alburnus Maior. Immigrants from Dalmatia, Pannonia, and Noricum worked the gold seams under this military oversight. The post answered to the governor at Apulum, not a local mine official.
